Bette Doehler, age 79, of Jamestown, ND, formerly of Rolla and Perth, ND passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND.
Elizabeth Ann “Bette” Doehler was born on January 4, 1934 in Valley City to Paul and Marcella (Edwards) Orness. She lived in Wimbledon, ND until the age of six, at which time her family moved to LaMoure. When Bette was a junior, her family moved to Rolla where she graduated in 1952 and then furthered her education at college in Minot. Bette worked in the Dairy Bar at the Rolla Creamery for her father until she went to work at the Rolla Abstract Office. On June 10th, 1954 Bette married John Fredrick Doehler in Bisbee. Together they had a son, John Paul, on March 21st, 1957. The family lived on a farm near Perth and in the early 70’s started and operated John Doehler and Son Seed Cleaning. Bette worked helping seed bagging and as the bookkeeper. John Fredrick passed away on March 11, 2002. Bette moved to Rolla Assisted Living where she lived until January 23, 2012 when she moved to Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.
Bette is survived by her son, John Paul (Carol) Doehler of Jamestown; her grandson, John Janus “JJ” (Sage) Doehler of Grand Forks; sisters, Paulette (Jim) Aanrud of Linden, NC and Jeannie (Neil) Heikkila of Minnetonka, MN.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John F., and sister, Phyllis French.
A visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, January 28, 2013 at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Rolla, ND with a Rosary Service at 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 11 AM in the church with Fr. Jake Miller presiding. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Bisbee, ND in the spring.
