Mary was born on a farm north of Wishek, ND, to Jacob and Christina Werre. She married Adolph Gunst in 1941 and they moved to Kulm, ND.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Adolph and a daughter Shirley Kruger.
Mary is survived by four children: Jerome Gunst of MA, Roger Gunst of MT, Donna Buerkle of OH, Terry Gunst of MN; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grand-children, 4 great, great grandchildren; and one sister, Hulda Lang, of Fargo, ND, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary especially enjoyed attending the weekly service of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and participating in the activities at the nursing home where she resided since 2008.
A family memorial service for Mary is planned in the spring to celebrate her life.
Mary will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery next to her late husband Adolph in Fargo, ND.
