Muriel Ann Johnson

Muriel Ann Johnson, 88, formerly of Jamestown, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013, in Lebanon, Missouri. Muriel was born in Jamestown, North Dakota on September 12, 1924, the daughter of James J. and Alice Flannery. She was a life-long resident of Jamestown but enjoyed living the last 6 years with her daughter and son-in-law in Lebanon, Missouri.

Muriel Ann Johnson, 88, formerly of Jamestown, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013, in Lebanon, Missouri.

Muriel was born in Jamestown, North Dakota on September 12, 1924, the daughter of James J. and Alice Flannery. She was a life-long resident of Jamestown but enjoyed living the last 6 years with her daughter and son-in-law in Lebanon, Missouri.

Muriel attended 12 years at St. John’s Academy. During her high school years she worked in Jamestown in her father’s bakery, the Flannery Bakery. After graduation she attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, North Dakota. During World War II she worked in factories in California. When the war ended Muriel returned to Jamestown and married William H. (Bill) Johnson on December 27, 1945.

She was a member of St. James Basilica Catholic Church and also a member of the Tabernacle Society for many years.

Surviving are her two children, Jeanne Andrews (Andy), Lebanon, Missouri, and Jeffrey Johnson (Ruth), Kingman, Arizona, four grandchildren to include Dane Olson, Lindsay Olson, Ryan Johnson and Megan Johnson, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, two brothers Dr. Hubert Flannery, and James Flannery, and four sisters Helen Niemeyer, Mary Alice Gossett, Bonnie Flannery, and Lois Christensen.

At her request she was cremated and internment will be later this summer in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, North Dakota, beside her husband.
