Harriet Backer, 92, Jamestown, ND, died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown. Harriet was born March 30, 1920 in Jamestown, the daughter of Herbert and Augusta (Jeske) Backer. She grew up and attended school in Bloom Township, northeast of Jamestown. She worked for Jamestown Hospital in bookkeeping for 17 years.

Harriet was born March 30, 1920 in Jamestown, the daughter of Herbert and Augusta (Jeske) Backer. She grew up and attended school in Bloom Township, northeast of Jamestown. She worked for Jamestown Hospital in bookkeeping for 17 years.
Harriet enjoyed baking and was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She was a faithful volunteer and avid supporter of mission projects of St. Paul’s. Harriet received the United Methodist Women Special Mission Recognition in 1990 and 1994.
Harriet is survived by one sister, Lillian Backer, Jamestown and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Oscar; and two sisters, Dorothy and Arley.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 28, 2013 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Pastor Arlyn Coalter officiating.
Visitation: 2:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
