Roy Hoffman
Roy S. Hoffman, 83, Minot, died Sunday, February 24, 2013, in his home. Roy “Ray” Stanley Hoffman was born December 6, 1929, in Logan County, “Flat” south of Streeter, N.D., the son of John and Katherina (Ketterling) Hoffman. He attended rural school and graduated from Napoleon High School in 1947.

Roy “Ray” Stanley Hoffman was born December 6, 1929, in Logan County, “Flat” south of Streeter, N.D., the son of John and Katherina (Ketterling) Hoffman. He attended rural school and graduated from Napoleon High School in 1947.
Roy attended UND at Grand Forks, majoring in accounting. In Rapid City, S.D., he learned the ceramic tile trade and worked at military installations in many states. He started Ray Tile Co. in Minot and over the years he and his crews laid tile in hospitals, restaurants, schools and various other businesses. His ceramic art at Four Bears Lodge, New Town remains a wonderful example of his skill.
Growing up on a farm, Roy learned to hunt at an early age. Throughout his life, hunting and fishing were great leisure times for him. He retired from the tile business at an early age and pursued his passion, the stocks/option market. Roy enjoyed coffee at Schatz’s with many of his friends, lunch at Oma’s, dancing and pinochle at the Moose and many Saturday car auctions with Smitty.
He is survived by his sister, Clara (Harold) Martin, Forbes, nieces, Roni Sletto, Willow City, Jeannette Redlin, JoDell Veil, and Kathleen Enzminger, all Jamestown, Shelda Flaten, Forbes, Esther Retzlaff, Leona Hoffman, Ellendale, nephews, Leslie and Wesley Hoffman, Ellendale; also many other out-of-state nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, Emma Dockter, Freida Geinger, Ida Sheldon, Elsie Burkhart, and Gertrude Becker; and four brothers, Arnoldt, John, Leonard and Xaver.
Visitation: There will be no reviewal, however, friends may sign a guest book on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 3-5 at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Sharing of Memories: Friday, March 1, 2013, 5 pm at Thompson Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot
Burial: Hope Cemetery, southwest of Streeter, ND, in the spring of 2013.
