Harvey DeBuck

Harvey DeBuck, 77, of Jamestown, ND, died at Essentia Health in Fargo. Harvey was born on January 13, 1936, in Marion, ND, the son of Camiel and Evelyn (Paulson) DeBuck. He grew up near Ypsilanti on the family farm and attended country school, graduating from Jamestown High School.

Harvey DeBuck, 77, of Jamestown, ND, died at Essentia Health in Fargo.

Harvey was born on January 13, 1936, in Marion, ND, the son of Camiel and Evelyn (Paulson) DeBuck. He grew up near Ypsilanti on the family farm and attended country school, graduating from Jamestown High School. Harvey and Patti Johnson were united in marriage on February 3, 1956 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Jamestown. They lived in Jamestown where Harvey worked for Melland’s and the North Dakota State Hospital for a short time. He also farmed with his father near Ypsilanti and was active with the National Guard for nine years. The family moved to a farm near Ypsilanti, then to Montpelier where he and Patti owned and operated the Farmer’s Bar, and later the DeBuck Grocery Store. Harvey also worked for Jamestown Sand & Gravel, then for Duratech for over 18 years. They moved to Jamestown where their home has been since.

Harvey was a member of the Eagles and volunteered at the James River Senior Center. He enjoyed competing in demolition derbies, horses, watching NASCAR and the races at the Jamestown Speedway, and old western movies.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Patti DeBuck, Jamestown; daughter, Hollie (Paul) Emo, Jamestown; son, Jeffrey (Tami) DeBuck, Montpelier; son-in-law, Jim Beyer, Jamestown; grandchildren, Janessa Beyer, Kalsie Beyer, Arin Beyer, Shawn Wegenast, Kyle, DeBuck, Kiara DeBuck, and Jalyssa DeBuck; one great grandchildren, Tripp Nelson; three sisters, Marlis (Bill Richman) Headland, Tower City, ND, Gloria (Kenis) Schultz, Victorville, CA, and Evonne (Rodney) Tramel, Orange, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Beckie Beyer; grandson, Joshua DeBuck; sister, Marjorie; brother-in-law, Buddy Headland; and son-in-law, Clayton Wegenast.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Rev. Terry Anderson officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
