Erma Fredrickson, 96, Valley City, N.D., formerly of Kensal, N.D.
Erma Fredrickson, 96, Valley City, N.D., formerly of Kensal, N.D., died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.
Erma Clara Koves was born July 19, 1912, at Kensal, the daughter of Rudolph and Elizabeth (Faehnrich) Koves. She grew up and attended country school in Lions Township, southwest of Kensal. She graduated from Kensal High School in 1931. She attended Valley City Teachers College, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught in a rural school in western Stutsman County, North Dakota. She married Theodore “Ted” Fredrickson in November 1932. They farmed in the Kensal area. He died in 1976. She then moved into Kensal. She later moved to Jamestown. In 2002 she moved to Bridgeview Estates, Valley City.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce (Keith) DeVillers, Wahpeton, N.D., Shirley Briss, Payson, Ariz., and Karen (Ken) Witt, Watertown, S.D.; three sisters-in-law, June Knutson, Jamestown, Clara Lee, Fargo, N.D., and Lorraine Schroeder, Carrington, N.D.; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, a brother and a son-in-law, Eugene Briss.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, United Methodist Church, Kensal, with the Rev. Jeff Levy officiating.
Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Kensal Cemetery, Kensal.
