Dean Edward Whitney, 47, Jamestown, died Monday, May 11, 2009, in Jamestown, after a battle with diabetes.
Mr. Whitney was born July 6, 1961, in Jamestown, the son of Vernon P. “Bud” and Marjorie (Kramp) Whitney. He attended Jamestown school, where he was active in FFA and 4-H. He graduated from James-town High School in 1979. He married Rebecca Larson on Oct. 5, 1985, in Jamestown. They later divorced. He worked for Duratech, Lucas Western Gear, and Agri-Cover, all of Jamestown, Simplot, Grand Forks, N.D., and a trucking company in Sandusky, Ohio. He also helped area farmers. He enjoyed playing poker, slow-pitch softball, league pool and darts, fishing, hunting and bowling.
He is survived by a son, Jerad A., Jamestown; two brothers, Robert (Freida), Ypsilanti, N.D., and Lyle “Butch” (Darlene), James-town; and two sisters, Linda (Leroy) Deede, Carrington, N.D., and Charlene (Duane) Kamphuis, Mandan, N.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marlene Kuntz; and his grandparents.
Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with the Rev. Tom Eckstein officiating.
Prayer service: 7 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
Visitation: none planned.
Burial: Ypsilanti Cemetery, Ypsilanti.
