Thomas Elhard, 72, Galt CA, formerly Jamestown ND
Thomas Merril Elhard of Galt, CA passed away on June 4, 2009, at the age of 72. He was born on February 17, 1936 in Jamestown, ND, the 11th child of John and Emelia Elhard. He graduated from James-town High School in 1954. He then joined the United States Marine Corp and then attended Jamestown College. On August 9, 1958 he married the love of his life, Sharon Claire Remboldt. They moved to Sacramento, CA where Tom joined the Sacramento Police Department. He served in several departments until retiring as a Sergeant Detective in 1992.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sharon and 3 children, Beth Goering (Rocky) of Elk Grove, CA, Greg of Elk Grove, CA, and Alan (Rita) of Sacramento, and 3 grandchildren, Thomas & Joanna Goering of Elk Grove and Amanda Elhard of Sacramento. He is also survived by 5 sisters, Edna Lanning of Moses Lake, WA, Ella Farka (Ward) of Spokane, WA, Adeline Banttari (Reino) of Cottage Grove, MN, Esther Docktor (Wayne) of Surprise, AZ, and Ruth Hoblitzell (Robert) of La Pine, OR, and 2 brothers, John (Kathleen) and Robert of Ocean View, HI, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Inez Auch, Norma Dengate, Oneida Auch and 2 brothers, James Elhard and Allwin Elhard.
Tom liked to garden and always had a beautiful yard. He was happy when surrounded by his family.
Memorial services will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park in the Garden of Freedom, in Lodi, CA, on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.
