John Harty

John Walter “Jack” Harty, 76, Rapid City, departed this life on Tuesday August 11, 2009 at his home.

He was born on June 25, 1933 in Jamestown, North Dakota to John Joseph and Peggy (Case) Harty.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Jamestown College and later a master’s degree in education administration from the University of North Dakota. He worked for many years as a school teacher, school administrator, and small business owner.

On June 25, 1970 he married Maxine Stoyke. To this union two children were born: John Patrick in 1971 and Maureen Kay in 1973.

He is survived by his wife Maxine; son John Patrick of Laramie, Wyoming; daughter Maureen “Sis” and husband Aaron Jackman of Johnstown, Nebraska; grandsons Kyle, Conner, and Aiden Jackman; and his brother James K. Harty of Jamestown, North Dakota.
