Dean Byron Gudmestad, 67, Jamestown
Dean Byron Gudmestad, 67, Jamestown, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown.
Mr. Gudmestad was born Oct. 26, 1941, in Marion, N.D., the son of George and Carla (Andersen) Gudmestad. He grew up and attended Litchville High School, Litch-ville, N.D., and graduated in 1959. He attended Valley City State College, Valley City, N.D., and returned to Litchville to farm. He married Diana Fandrick on Dec. 1, 1961, and they lived in Litchville where he continued to farm. They moved to Medina, N.D., in 1982. He farmed until 1988 and then worked for many construction companies and Cavendish Farms. They moved to Jamestown in 1999. He retired in 2007. He was an active member of the Litchville and Medina wildlife clubs. He enjoyed country music, watching sports and telling stories.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, ShawnDell (Dennis Moore) Gudmestad-Moore, Jamestown; five sons, Jason, Wentworth, S.D., Joshua (Paula), Lucas (Rae) and Lane, all Jamestown, and Joe (Jamie) Midland, Texas; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeremy, and his parents.
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Friday, First Lutheran Church, Litchville, with the Rev. Marsha Hegna officiating.
Prayer service: 7 p.m. Thursday, Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Visitation: none planned.
Burial: Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Litch-ville.
