Lorraine Olsen, 84, Binford, N.D., died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, N.D. Lorraine Pederson was born March 21, 1925, on the family farm five miles north of Binford, the daughter of Palmer and Julia (Hoffich) Pederson.

Lorraine Pederson was born March 21, 1925, on the family farm five miles north of Binford, the daughter of Palmer and Julia (Hoffich) Pederson. She was raised by her grandparents, John and Sina (Gilbertson) Peterson. She grew up and attended rural school near Binford and graduated from Binford High School, Binford. She married Melvin Ingvold Olsen on July 2, 1943, on the family farm. He died Feb. 2, 1972. She moved to Binford in 1976. She worked as a cook and baker at the Red Willow Lake Resort, Binford. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Binford, where she played organ, sang in the choir and attended Bible study and ladies aid, and the Willow Homemakers Club. She enjoyed cooking and music.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan Richard, Dunseith, N.D.; two sons, Barry (Faith), Moorhead, Minn., and Neal, St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a grandson, John Melvin Richard.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Binford.
Prayer service: 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the service at the church Monday. Arrangements by Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, N.D.
Burial: Trinity Cemetery, rural Binford.
