Albert Neva, 98, Jamestown, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Neva was born March 28, 1911, at Kensal, N.D., the son of Frank and Rose (Stampka) Neva. He grew up and attended school in the Kensal area. He farmed south of Kensal for a time. He married Lillian Rude on July 20, 1938. He worked as a buyer for Jamestown Hide and Fur Company. On Jan. 24, 1943, he was inducted into the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Florida and Rapid City, S.D., before going to France and Germany during World War II. He was honorably discharged as a corporal after serving 39 months. He operated a gravel and sand business after his discharge until he retired in 1975. He was a member of St. James Basilica, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles.
He is survived by his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and three brothers.
Services: 10 a.m. Friday, St. James Basilica, James-town.
Prayer service: 7 p.m. Thursday, Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Visitation: 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
