Allen James Heaney, 75, Grafton, N.D.

Allen James Heaney, 75, Grafton, N.D., died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Lutheran Sunset Home, Grafton.

Mr. Heaney was born Feb. 5, 1934, in Chicago, the son of Alvin C. and Ruth (Mock) Heaney. He graduated from high school in Marengo, Ill. He married Doris Gramlich on July 27, 1957. He attended nurses training at a hospital in Springfield, Ill. He worked as a registered nurse in Illinois. He moved to Graf-ton in 1972 and worked at Grafton Developmental Center as a registered nurse. He also worked part-time at the Strand Theater. He later worked at North Dakota State Hospital, Jamestown, and Ashley Medical Center, Ashley, N.D. He retired in 2002 and returned to Grafton. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Grafton.

He is survived by three daughters, Mary (Gerald) Schnellbach and Theresa Otto, both Grafton, and Patricia (Peter) Stoute, Grand Forks, N.D.; two sons, Christopher (Lynette), Jamestown, and Tony, Minneapolis; a brother, Kenny, Muskegon, Mich.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Grafton.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, Tollefson Funeral Home, Grafton, and one hour before the service at the church.

Burial: St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
