Bonnie Tressler also made cookies for the girls to decorate at the Christmas craft day held on Dec. 6 for the Meals on Wheels cookie trays.   • Submitted photo<br /><br />St. John’s Academy Student Council organized a school food drive. From Dec. 3-17 kindergarten through sixth grade classes were challenged to bring in as many nonperishable food items as possible. Every three days the council members counted the cans and the class with the most cans received a traveling trophy. Together the school brought more than 600 cans and other nonperishable foods for those in need. The council then boxed the items and donated them to the Salvation Army.   • Submitted photo<br /><br />The student council at Louis L’Amour Elementary School sponsored a change drive to buy Angel Tree gifts. As an incentive, Assistant Principal Vikki Coombs offered a popcorn party to the class with the most money donated. The student body raised close to $400. Due to the response, school officials decided all students had earned a popcorn party. The Bison Twin Theaters agreed and donated the popcorn. The school’s counselor, assistant principal and four studentcouncil members went shopping for clothes, toysand movies for several children in need this holiday. Shown in the picture is the top donating fourth grade class along with the student council members. <br /><br />

Hoeven had read the inscription on a plaque he presented her.  Wefald leaves the commission on Dec. 31, when her term expires. She did not seek re-election. Her successor, Brian Kalk of Fargo, was among the attendees at the event on the Capitol's 18th floor.
