PBHS students, staff take giving on the road: Group shops here for the Angel Tree program
Students and staff at Pingree-Buchanan High School took Thursday off from classes to give back to those in the area less fortunate than themselves. With only a few weeks of notice the 84 students at the 7-12 grade high school raised $1,750 for the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. Staff chipped in an additional $385.

Coats for Kids distribution continues
The distribution for the Coats for Kids was incorrect in a story on page A6 in Tuesday’s Sun. Coats for Kids pickup and Angel Tree signup are 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. today through Friday and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Salvation Army Headquarters.

Kettle effort short of goal
With less than a week left before Christmas, the Salvation Army is still well short of its goal for this year’s Kettle Campaign. Lt. Mitch Brecto said he hopes there will be a push big enough to raise the $67,000 more for helping people in Jamestown and Stutsman County. “I know this last week is a busy week and we see a lot of last-minute donations,” Brecto said. “So hopefully we can reach our goal and continue with the level of service that’s needed.”

Brectos speak at Kiwanis meeting
Don Caine introduced Lts. Mitch and Teresa Brecto from the Salvation Army at last week’s Kiwanis meeting. The Brectos have been in Jamestown since June 2010. They have been in the Salvation Army for 11 years. They have five children, two of whom are still at home.

Rebecca “ Becky” Schroeder, age 60, of Carrington, ND, died Friday, July 20, 2012, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, ND. Rebecca Sue Wobbema was born on January 26, 1952, the daughter of Peter Jr. and Donna (Parks) Wobbema at Carrington. She was raised near Carrington and attended grade school at Estabrook Township and graduated from Carrington High School in 1970.
