Three local Girl Scouts earn Gold Awards
One May 6, three graduating Jamestown Ambassador Girl Scouts were recognized and received their Gold Awards at the annual citywide bridging ceremony held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. The Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve. Each girl respectively earned the Bronze and Silver awards. These girls also bridged into adult membership.

Memory boxes lead to Girl Scout Gold
Myriah Koebernick wanted to help the residents spruce up the entrances to their rooms at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, where she works. Koebernick achieved this goal and earned a Girl Scout Gold Award by having a “memory box” installed next to the door of each of Ave Maria’s 64 resident rooms.

Zonta, Girl Scouts form partnership
Zonta of Jamestown met Jan. 9 at the Gladstone Inn & Suites. President Pam Phillips called the meeting to order. Guest speaker for the evening was Sherry Schutt, who spoke on the benefits of practicing yoga on a regular basis. “A body in motion stays in motion” and “Anyone, anywhere, anytime” are her mantras. Schutt led everyone through the movements for “A 10 second vacation at work” stressing the importance of relaxation to achieve higher productivity at work.

Langbehn completes award
Alissa Langbehn of Jamestown Girl Scout Troop 30576 recently completed the Girl Scout Gold Award, which is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. For her project, she took 28 plastic barrels and turned them into recycling bins for the Stutsman County Fairgrounds.
