Class B rounup: Rockets win on the road
New Rockford-Sheyenne picked up a win in Class B girls basketball on Monday, taking down Four Winds-Minnewaukan 75-53 at Four Winds. The Rockets’ Lexi Weber (17 points), Lacey Grann (16), Renelle Allmaras (12) and Rachel Hermanson (10) all hit double figures in the game. The Rockets led by 10 points (42-32) at the half, and were efficient at the free-throw line converting 12 of 15 freebies in the contest.

Eighteen James River figure skaters combined for 28 medals at the 16th Annual Red River Valley Figure Skating Competition in Moorhead Feb. 8-9. James River Figure Skating Club team members earned three first-place awards, six runner-up finishes, seven thirds and 12 fourths while competing in 36 events.

Some performers have changed in the 10 years since it began, but music and fellowship have always in style for the annual Gospel Music Jamboree. “If you enjoy good, toe-tapping gospel music, it’s a fun, relaxing Sunday afternoon, and then fellowship afterward for young and old,” said Christine Witt, coordinator of the event.

Rebecca “ Becky” Schroeder, age 60, of Carrington, ND, died Friday, July 20, 2012, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, ND. Rebecca Sue Wobbema was born on January 26, 1952, the daughter of Peter Jr. and Donna (Parks) Wobbema at Carrington. She was raised near Carrington and attended grade school at Estabrook Township and graduated from Carrington High School in 1970.
