Roaming Buffalo awards scholarship
The Roaming Buffalo camping club met in July and did an “Adopt a Highway” cleanup. At the meeting, members moved to award Megan Kapp member a $125 scholarship. She is a freshman at the University of Mary in Bismarck and is studying English education.

Three local Girl Scouts earn Gold Awards
One May 6, three graduating Jamestown Ambassador Girl Scouts were recognized and received their Gold Awards at the annual citywide bridging ceremony held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. The Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve. Each girl respectively earned the Bronze and Silver awards. These girls also bridged into adult membership.

Langbehn completes award
Alissa Langbehn of Jamestown Girl Scout Troop 30576 recently completed the Girl Scout Gold Award, which is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. For her project, she took 28 plastic barrels and turned them into recycling bins for the Stutsman County Fairgrounds.

Blue Jays drop finale
A bumpy season for the Jamestown High School girls soccer team came to a close at Rotary Field on Thursday night. Playing host to St. Mary’s, the Saints’ Angie Schumacher put the visiting team up 1-0 just 24 seconds into the match. St. Mary’s went on to send five goals into the net in the first half and defeated Jamestown 6-0. The Blue Jays finished the year without a victory at 0-14-1 overall, but JHS coach Ryan Kleinknecht was proud of his team for not giving up and improving throughout the season.
