Midkota standout Emily Berge has signed with the Jimmies. Berge, the Region 4 Senior Athlete of the Year, compiled 312 kills, 260 digs, 52 assists, 44 aces and 42 blocks last season for the Mustangs. The 5-foot-8 hitter also earned all-state honors as a junior and senior.

High School Notebook: Midkota continues success
Last year, the Midkota High School volleyball team beat Central Cass in the championship match of the annual Valley City Optimist tournament. However, the Mustangs were clipped by Stanley 3-2 in the semifinals of the Class B state volleyball tournament last November at the Fargodome. They went on to beat Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock for third.

Attached to the newer Midkota Elementary School building through an enclosed lower-level walkway, the old building will help alleviate crowded conditions sparked by a mini-enrollment explosion in Midkota School District.
