Letter to the editor: Conrad ignores reality of moving program funds
I am having difficulty understanding exactly what Sen. Kent Conrad perceives as “a huge amount of money” in his statements reported in The Jamestown Sun Aug. 24. First he refers to $1.3 trillion as a huge amount of money, then gives the same description to $650 million.

Letter to the editor: Opponents spreading falsehoods about Measure 5
I am voting “yes” on Measure 5, which would make cruelty to dogs, cats and horses a felony in certain cases. More than 200 North Dakota volunteers gathered 25,000 signatures, double what was needed to get it on our ballot. Much misinformation about Measure 5 is being spread by some large groups inside and outside of North Dakota. Here is the truth about Measure 5.

Letter to the editor: So-called dangers of measure are being misrepresented
Have you read Measure 2? If not now, when is the time to do so? You will be amazed at how the people of the state of North Dakota will benefit from this measure. First of all, we never really own our property. Try not paying your property taxes for three years and you will see who really owns your property. This is one of the most unfair taxes we have.

Roberts’ swing vote saves health care overhaul
Obamacare lives. America’s historic health care overhaul, derided by Republicans as intrusive, costly “Obamacare,” narrowly survived an election-year battle at the Supreme Court Thursday with the improbable help of conservative Chief Justice John Roberts.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel demanded more information Wednesday after the Air Force removed 17 launch officers from duty at a nuclear missile base in North Dakota over what a commander called “rot” in the force. Hagel supports nuclear arms cuts, elimination
Chuck Hagel, the likely next secretary of defense, would be the first to enter the Pentagon having publicly advocated for sharply reducing the number of U.S. nuclear weapons, possibly without equivalent cuts by Russia. He supports an international movement called Global Zero that favors eliminating all nuclear weapons.
