James River Senior Citizen’s Center, Inc. will hold its 2012 annual meeting at noon Monday at Center I, 502 10th Ave. SE, Jamestown. Dinner will be served at noon with the meeting following immediately after.

The James River Senior and Community Center has moved into its new home in the former Jamestown Hospital, now known as Legacy Living Center. JRSCC Executive Director Laurie McGuire said moving into 10,000 square feet of the iconic building will help draw the public’s attention to the center and the services it offers. She said the building is well known and most residents know its location at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Fifth Street Northeast.

Ornaments sought for state Christmas tree
The North Dakota Council on the Arts invites artists and crafts people to provide handmade ornaments for the North Dakota State Christmas Tree. The tree will be on display in the Memorial Hall of the State Capitol, and Gov. Jack and first lady Betsy Dalrymple will participate in a lighting of the tree ceremony. The tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 3.

The Stutsman County Area Retired Teachers Association met at the James River Senior and Community Center on April 23. President Tom Norman presided over the business meeting. Nominations were held for 2013-14 officers. The office of treasurer was accepted by Lee Ham. The office of secretary was accepted by Kay Glynn and Joyce Naslund. Nominations for president and vice president will be taken at the May meeting.

Quilts of Jamestown Quilters Guild on display at Unison Bank
The Jamestown Quilters Guild’s art is on display at Unison Bank for May. New materials led to a renewed interest in making quilts in the 1920s and 1930s. Newspapers were running quilting columns and quilters were able to see pattern and fabric suggestions at the same time.

The road connects Stutsman County Road 62 North and Stutsman County Road 62 South and passes through the town of Spiritwood, according to Casey Bradley, Stutsman County auditor/chief operating officer.
