Former senior center may become LEC storage space
The old James River Senior and Community Center building may be converted into storage space for the Law Enforcement Center. The Stutsman County Commission decided to further investigate the possibility of using the space for cold storage at its meeting Tuesday.

Senior center settling in to new digs
The James River Senior and Community Center has moved into its new home in the former Jamestown Hospital, now known as Legacy Living Center. JRSCC Executive Director Laurie McGuire said moving into 10,000 square feet of the iconic building will help draw the public’s attention to the center and the services it offers. She said the building is well known and most residents know its location at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Fifth Street Northeast.

Ornaments sought for state Christmas tree
The North Dakota Council on the Arts invites artists and crafts people to provide handmade ornaments for the North Dakota State Christmas Tree. The tree will be on display in the Memorial Hall of the State Capitol, and Gov. Jack and first lady Betsy Dalrymple will participate in a lighting of the tree ceremony. The tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 3.

The Jamestown Quilters Guild’s art is on display at Unison Bank for May. New materials led to a renewed interest in making quilts in the 1920s and 1930s. Newspapers were running quilting columns and quilters were able to see pattern and fabric suggestions at the same time.

Contract awarded for road work
The Stutsman County Commission awarded a contract to RTS Shearing for road work at Spiritwood during a special meeting Friday.
