Police here plan to install temporary surveillance cameras downtown after businesses along NP Avenue complained of increasing crime. Police say three cameras will be installed along the NP Avenue corridor. The cameras — which will only monitor public spaces such as streets and sidewalks — will record and feed video to the police station 24 hours a day, said Fargo police Lt. Jeff Skuza.

Prosecutors have until Sept. 6 to counter a defense motion seeking to commit for treatment a Fargo man charged with murdering his wife. Fargo man faces 13 felonies linked to child porn allegations
A south Fargo computer specialist is accused of possessing and possibly sharing a large amount of child pornography at his home and on his computer. Robert Carey Evans, 57, was charged Friday in Cass County District Court with 13 counts of possession of prohibited materials. Each charge is a Class C felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Jesse Orgaard said his son would tell his family not to cry for him but rather have a beer in his honor. The family planned to honor that wish. Speaking to media Thursday morning with his wife, Josie, and 23-year-old daughter, Kristy, Orgaard could not stress enough how much his 20-year-old son, known for his leadership and desire to help others, loved being a part of the military.
