Laurits “Pete” Nelson, 60, succumbed to cancer, died in his home on Monday, May 20, 2013. L. Peter Nelson was born on April 4, 1953, in Jamestown, ND, son of June C (Baird) and Clarence P. “Howdy” Nelson. He attended school in Edgeley graduating from Edgeley High School with the Class of 1971. Pete entered the US Air Force in September 1971 and served until December 1974 when he was honorably discharged.

Parents of an infant who died less than two years ago with illegal drugs in his system pleaded not guilty to child abuse charges Monday at a preliminary hearing in Southwest District Court in Dickinson. Andrue Saunders and his ex-wife, Theresa Saunders, both born in 1989, are charged with Class C felony abuse or neglect of a child. The couple also have a second child.
