Stuart D. Gessner, 69 lifelong farmer and rancher of rural Penn, ND passed away on Sunday evening, May 19, 2013 at his home from leukemia. Funeral Services on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday beginning at 3:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Family will be present beginning at 6:00 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

With prolonged rain, floods return
Rising waters in Crystal, a small town in northeast North Dakota, began driving people out of their homes Monday evening as heavy rains pushed rivers back up to flood levels around the region. Andrew Kirking, emergency manager for Pembina County, said sheriff’s deputies and other emergency workers began helping people leave already flooding homes by about 6 p.m.

Dora Lee, age 93, of Valley City died May 16th at Mercy Hospital in Valley City. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday, May 21st at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Valley City with Rev. Emmy Isaackson officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 PM Monday at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home with a family gathering at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour before services Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
