Bentz speaks at Kiwanis meeting
Kent Horton introduced Don Bentz at last week’s Kiwanis meeting to speak on his 33 years of employment with KSJB. Bentz delivered a humorous talk on some of the things that happened to him during these years. He was in sales and did a great deal of traveling. He said rock and roll was harder to sell. When country western music came in, it was easier. When he was working, rates were $7 for a 30-second commercial. A saturation package, which was 100 spots, was $100.

Jamestown Kiwanis Club has announced the creation of Jamestown’s Aktion Club. This service leadership program provides opportunities to adults living with disabilities to give back to their communities, build leadership and decision-making skills and develop and use their talents. Hatlewick speaks on 4-H at Kiwanis
Lt. Mitch Brecto introduced Deb Hatlewick, from the North Dakota State University Extension Service in Stutsman County, to speak about 4-H at Kiwanis. She is the 4-H coordinator for Stutsman County. 4-H is for youth from 8 to 18. They compete against each other in various projects and activities. They can stay in 4-H until they are 23 as after 18 they are considered ambassadors who travel around the state and help with other 4-H clubs.

Ypsilanti 50+ Club holds meeting
The Ypsilanti 50+ Club held its March meeting at Ellen Orr’s in the community room with 11 members present. A potluck was served. Nancylou Jensen had the tables decorated with the St. Patrick’s day theme and asked members to wear green. Secretary, Bee Jae Erickson read the minutes from the last meeting and it was approved. Marge Lange, treasurer, gave the report and it was approved.

Lillejord speaks on clinics at Kiwanis
Jan Barnes introduced Jon Lillejord, director of Sanford clinics in Jamestown, at last week’s Kiwanis meeting. Lillejord was the clinic manager at Medcenter One for eight years. Since December he has been the director of both Sanford clinics. He said both clinics are reporting to Fargo. They are presently in training with a new electronic health record called Epic. This is a system that will be for the clinics and the hospital so they can share records.

Kids Against Hunger topic at Kiwanis
Janna Bergstedt, Kiwanis member, spoke last week at the Kiwanis meeting on the Kids Against Hunger meal packaging event held Saturday at the Buffalo Mall. The club raised $32,000 and 450 volunteers were needed. Every minute 12 children around the world die from starvation.
