Job will remain: City committee OKs hiring full-time forester
The city of Jamestown will seek a full-time forester although the job may include a few extra tasks. The job description will include other duties that could include assisting with snow removal. The decision was made at the Jamestown Finance and Legal Committee meeting Tuesday. The job became open with Vern Quam’s resignation on Jan. 21. The city had previously sought to contract for forestry services but had not received any proposals.

Lt. Mitch Brecto introduced Deb Hatlewick, from the North Dakota State University Extension Service in Stutsman County, to speak about 4-H at Kiwanis. She is the 4-H coordinator for Stutsman County. 4-H is for youth from 8 to 18. They compete against each other in various projects and activities. They can stay in 4-H until they are 23 as after 18 they are considered ambassadors who travel around the state and help with other 4-H clubs.
