Thomas Horgeshimer turned on the jets after the first mile at the Class B East Region meet last Saturday in Cooperstown. The Lisbon High School junior turned in a spectacular performance, finishing with a time of 16 minutes, 57 seconds to take the region title over teammate Jacob Gallagher, who finished second 34 seconds later.

While not as robust as the statewide increase of nearly 42 percent, Jamestown saw about a $4.5 million spike in taxable sales and purchases from the second quarter of 2011 to the same time in 2012. This according to a report released Wednesday by the North Dakota Tax Commissioner’s Office.

Defending Region 4 champion Midkota showed they are still the team to beat with a 3-0 sweep of Carrington Tuesday night in Class B volleyball action. After the Mustangs controlled the first set in Carrington’s gym, it was tight the next two, but Midkota prevailed both sets, 27-25 and 26-24.
