A shocking (and hot!) tip for preserving produce
Nothing is more frustrating than finding the perfect cucumber or head of lettuce at the farmers market, paying top-dollar for it, and then... tossing it out a week later when it has gone moldy or slimy in the refrigerator.

Hamlin eager to return
If it was up to him, Denny Hamlin’s fractured vertebra in his lower back would not cause him to miss any races. “I can get in my car right now and go; I feel like I can get in my car right now and win Martinsville,” Hamlin said Wednesday.

Before I recap the NCAA regionals take a quick look at the Frozen Four, I have a few thoughts on how the national tournament was set up this year. I can’t say that I’m pleased with much of it.

Letter to the editor: Legislature right to pass bills to block abortions
We applaud our North Dakota Legislature for passing some of the most pro-woman and pro-life health laws in our nation with the intent to uphold the sanctity of human life in our great state. For all the criticism these bills have received from the secular media and pro-abortion supporters, these sources have failed to respond to the one question that defines why the good people of North Dakota are pursuing this type of legislation.

Cost of defending the abortion laws could add up quickly
Gov. Jack Dalrymple’s signature on what would be among the strictest abortion laws in the country could cost the state hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars defending the laws in court. Activists favoring legalized abortion say the pending laws in North Dakota would likely put the state into a lawsuit, arguing that they violate the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, which ruled that abortions are legal up until the point of viability outside the womb, or about 24 weeks.

Passing down the .280 rifle
There is nothing fancy about one of the rifles I have brought to the range today. It is a Ruger Model 77 bolt-action in .280 Rem. topped with a 40-year-old Redfield Widefield 4X with Duplex reticle. The rifle belonged to my father, Jake, who sent it along with me not long before his death, asking that I give it to my son-in-law, Brad Koerner.
