Stocks gain after signs of increased employment

Kahn out as Wolves’ GM
David Kahn is out as president of basketball operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Flip Saunders is coming in. The Timberwolves announced Thursday that owner Glen Taylor has decided not to pick up the option for next season on Kahn’s contract. Three people with knowledge of the situation tell The Associated Press that Taylor is putting the finishing touches on a deal to hire Saunders as Kahn’s replacement. Online sales tax
The U.S. Senate is poised for a final vote Monday on a bill that would give states the authority to force online retailers to collect sales taxes on goods shipped to places like North Dakota and Minnesota. The House will eventually vote on the bill, too, and unlike past attempts there is growing consensus a law will be enacted this time around. “It’s about damn time,” said Greg Danz, owner of Zandbroz Variety store in downtown Fargo.
