Letter to the editor: Heartless driver hit family dog and just kept driving
I can only hope that the person who hit our small dog at 8 a.m. Nov. 17 driving on Seventh Avenue Southeast is reading this letter. I understand that accidents do happen and the driver didn’t mean to do this.

Letter to the editor: Students thrilled to be part of Newman Signs project
For the past 10 Decembers, Newman Signs has provided holiday greetings in the form of a massive canvass billboard to all who travel up and down Mill Hill. Not only has this annual contribution to our community awed Jamestown natives and visitors, it has promoted the greatest asset Jamestown has to offer — its people. This year, Newman Signs decided to feature the future of Jamestown — kindergarten students.

Letter to the editor: Public transportation necessary in rural areas
When we think about public transportation in North Dakota, buses in Fargo, Bismarck and Grand Forks quickly come to mind. Outside of these metro areas, there is a complex, almost hidden, network of public transit of more than 25 providers which are vital to rural communities.

Letter to the editor: America voted the wrong way, but God is still in control
The recent election was a tough deal for many Christians. Millions of Americans looked evil in the eye: abortion paid for with U.S. taxes, same sex marriages and rampant immorality in all areas of our culture…and voted to maintain the status quo.

Letter to the editor: Rather than complain, support local businesses
I was really disappointed to read the article from the “other” Linda Brown on Nov. 9. Her comments about the mayor, City Council and vacant buildings, in my opinion, were sarcastic and rude.

Letter to the editor: A wink can have many meanings
When is a wink trustworthy? Claris Liechty saw distrust in the wink of an eye that Heidi Heitkamp showed when she hit a softball out of the park in one of her ads. So to be sure, Liechty said she checked with a dictionary and the Holy Bible, which is gospel, to be sure a wink means “distrust.”

Letter to the editor: Republican mailer was error, not an attempt to mislead
It has been brought to my attention that a mistake was made in a mailing sent on behalf of my local Republican legislative candidates. In a recent letter to the editor, Dean Remboldt said the local Republican campaign was “trying to fool you into voting” for Bernie Satrom, Ken Hall and Alex Looysen as incumbents.

Two groups seek your support: one, North Dakotans for Responsible Animal Care, composed of the North Dakota Veterinary Medical Association, North Dakota Stockmen’s Association, North Dakota Farm Bureau, North Dakota Farmers Union, North Dakota Board of Animal Health and the Department of Agriculture; two, North Dakotans to Stop Animal Cruelty, initially started by several North Dakota individuals who have supported previous legislation against animal cruelty.

Letter to the editor: Republican candidates sound unsure, lack ideas
Does it seem a little unusual that the “chad” problem that was explained and counted in Florida in the first George W. Bush candidacy only happened in Florida and only in that instance? I had used the punch election system several times in Washington state and there was nary a “chad.”
