How the pros use the psychology of persuasion to make us buy now
The psychology of persuasion has always fascinated me — probably because I stink at it. When I was in college, I worked for a while as a salesman at a Slumberland store. Maybe I wasn’t fired . . . technically. I was, after all, the model employee — never late, always responsible, well dressed, pleasant with the customers. I just never sold anything. Being a bit of an introvert, every prospect seemed to me like that cute girl I was too shy to talk to.

‘Les Miserables’ better than most musicals
As a general rule, I do not like musicals. The lyrics are often sappy, and it seems ridiculous how, in the middle of a life-changing event, the characters will burst into song and dance around. Sorting through gun debate craziness
For much of the past five weeks I’ve watched and listened to hysterics from anti-gun journalists and activists who know little or nothing about firearms, expounding on a variety of things, including the “heavy power” of the .223 cartridge, which in reality isn’t powerful enough for use as a reliable deer rifle.
