Animal cruelty bill sent to governor’s desk
An 80-12 House vote Wednesday morning sent Gov. Jack Dalrymple a bill that would create harsher penalties against people who willfully neglect, abuse, abandon or are otherwise cruel to animals. The legislation, Senate Bill 2211, cleared the Senate on Tuesday by a 43-3 vote.

A bait shop south of Devils Lake suffered damage when it was struck by a vehicle at about 5 p.m. on April, 23, according to information released by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The accident occurred on Highway 20, near mile marker 102 or about 1/2 mile south of Devils Lake.

William McMillan, 94, Jamestown, ND, formerly of Fordville and Grafton, ND, died Friday, March 29, 2013 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown. William Wallace McMillan was born March 16, 1919 on the family farm near Fordville, ND. He was the son of Arthur Smith Livingston and Helen (Ratcliffe) McMillan. He was raised on the family farm and attended school in Fordville, graduating from Fordville High School in 1937.

The body of a snowmobiler missing since his sled went into the St. Croix River more than two months ago has been recovered. The body of James Harlan Frentress, 43, of Brooklyn Park, Minn., was found Saturday afternoon floating in the river near its convergence with the Snake River. The body was found by two Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources wardens.
