JPS enrollment: District down 47 students this year from last
The enrollment numbers are in for the Jamestown Public Schools and they continue to drop after the 2011-2012 school year saw a slight increase. “The numbers are a lot better than we were a few years ago, when we were 80 to 100 students down every year, that’s when we were taking hits,” said JPS Superintendent Bob Toso.

School Board approved Olweus survey
The Jamestown Public School Board did not approve moving forward with implementing the Olweus bullying prevention program as reported in “Toso to retire: JPS superintendent to finish duties June 1” on page A1 in Tuesday’s Sun. The board agreed to move forward with the district-wide Olweus survey in October or November.

United Way set to launch campaign
With the goal of raising $200,000 this year, the United Way of Stutsman County will launch its annual fundraising campaign Thursday in Jamestown. United Way is a nonprofit organization founded in Denver, Colo., in 1887 as an effort to collect funds for local charities and organizations. According to its website, United Way Worldwide currently has a network of almost 1,800 community-based United Ways in 45 countries, including about 1,300 here in the United States.
