Letter to the editor: Story implied Christians don’t welcome all people
We are responding to the May 10 article, “Church’s ‘open’ view draws interest” which speaks of congregations that are “open and affirming” of those who engage in same-sex behavior. Sadly, this article also implies that Christians who believe that same-sex behavior is sinful are not willing to welcome or love people who struggle with this sin.

George Mack III
George Joseph Mack III, 75, Jamestown, ND passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND, after a short battle with cancer. George was born April 26, 1938 on the family farm in Pettibone, ND. George was the second of twelve children to George, Jr. and Verna (Kraemer) Mack. George grew up and went to school in Pettibone. At the age of 16 he started farming for Tuffy Torgerson, who he worked for the next seven years as well as on the family farm.

Ellen M. Gebhardt, wife of Marvin H. Gebhardt and Jamestown resident, died peacefully at Eventide Hi-Acres Manor on May 6, 2013, from congestive heart disease. Ellen was born in New Rockford, N.D., on 11 January 1923, the middle child of seven. She was married to Marvin H. Gebhardt in Fargo in June 1945, and went with him to Grand Forks in the summer of 1947.

In the beginning, Phillip Patterson decided to write out every word in the Bible. On empty pages, he wrote of Adam, an ark, locusts, loaves, fishes and the resurrection in his neat, looping cursive.
