Union confirms ACS workers to vote on contract
The locked-out workers of American Crystal Sugar will vote on the company’s contract offer Dec. 1, said a union official. John Riskey, president of Local 167G of the Bakery Workers union representing employees at Crystal plants in East Grand Forks, Moorhead and Drayton, N.D., said the vote would include workers at Crystal’s five factories in Minnesota and North Dakota along with members in Iowa.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, police responded to reports of a fight at First Congregational Church at 406 8th St. S. The church had been rented for a private baby shower, and a group of uninvited males were denied entry by the hosts shortly before the party ended.

Charles Robert Podoll, 83, of LaMoure, North Dakota, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure. Charlie, son of Adolph and Louise (Schober) Podoll was born on January 2, 1929, at Nortonville, North Dakota, where he grew up and attended the first eleven grades of school. His family then moved to Edgeley, North Dakota, where he graduated from Edgeley High School. Charlie was baptized on September 13, 1942, in Jud, ND. He was later confirmed on July 24, 1949, in Edgeley, ND.
