A trip to nationals: JC earns national-tournament berth after rallying past Comets
The final game of the Unaffiliated Conference Tournament ended with two characteristics common to the three-day playoff. Another close, competitive game, and one final Jamestown College victory. This one was the biggie for the Jimmies, though, their 7-6 win earning them a return trip to the NAIA national tournament.

Chasing a championship: Jimmies rally past Mayville State, to play for title
“Loose” and “goofy” are adjectives coach Tom Hager has used to describe his team this season. Point being, they stay cool even when things get hot. That trait came in handy Thursday in a thrilling come-from-behind win over Mayville State to put the Jimmies within one win of a trip to the national tournament.

No place like home: JC wins first home game to advance in tournament
In a season of abnormalities, the Jimmie baseball team stuck with tradition in getting to Wednesday’s game. Playing at home for the first time all year, Jamestown College took the bus to its opener of the Unaffiliated Conference Tournament against Dickinson State. Baseball folk being superstitious like they are, this one seemed like a no-brainer.

Tough start for JC men, women fare well
Slow starts were a problem for the Jimmie men’s golf team during the fall half of the season. That issue carried over to the spring, but it’s hardly their fault. Due to the endless winter weather, the JC golf teams never did get in a meet prior to the A.I.I. conference championship in Victoria, Texas, which started Monday. Not surprisingly, the Jimmie men got off to a tough start before a downpour washed out the second half of the opening round.

Jimmie quartet shines
Track-niks know that running alone usually makes it tough to put up a time. Apparently, that’s not the case for the Jimmies’ 3,200-meter relay team. Running alone on the Concordia College track Monday at the Cobber Twilite meet, Nikki Iverson, Rachel Perish, Samantha Goff and Aleona Reyes had plenty of pace to post a season-best time of 9:30.40 to earn a trip to the NAIA national meet in Marion, Ind., at the end of May.

Taking the court: Blue Jays approaching first match
All spring sports are getting the shaft this season due to the extended winter weather. Among the teams hit hardest is the Blue Jay girls tennis squad. Coach Pat Mullowney’s team will play its first match Thursday in Bismarck, which is April 25. The West Region meet will be held May 16-18. That gives the Blue Jays 19 days to play a season.
