The Smithsonian exhibit “Key Ingredients: America by Food” is coming to the historic Opera House lobby in Ellendale, N.D. The exhibit opens Saturday and runs through June 16. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and by appointment.

Digging out: Storm may have broken record for snow in April
The Sunday snowstorm set records for snow accumulations and travel headaches across a wide swath of North Dakota. While snow depths varied somewhat, most of the James River basin reported double digits of snow, according to Ken Simosko, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Bismarck.

Travel Alert issued for southeast North Dakota
The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) has issued a Travel Alert for southeast North Dakota including the cities of Jamestown, Ellendale, Edgeley, Valley City, Wahpeton, Fargo, Hillsboro and surrounding areas. Conditions are such that motorists can still travel in these areas, but should be advised that heavy snow and blowing snow is causing reduced visibility and icy conditions. Motorists are encouraged to reduce speeds and drive according to the conditions.
