Two counties institute burn ban
Dickey County and LaMoure County have instituted a burn ban, utilizing the state’s fire danger index, which is set by the National Weather Service. People are not permitted to burn when the fire danger index is set at “very high” or “extreme,” or when the NWS issues a Red Flag wind warning. On days when the fire danger index is lower than that, people are permitted to burn, said Charlie Russell, the emergency manager and 911 coordinator for Dickey County.
