Blue Jays roll
42 seconds. That’s how much time Jamestown senior Carissa Finck had left to score her first career varsity goal in front of her hometown fans. “And, it’s even a one-timer for crying out loud,” JHS girls hockey coach Brad Schaack laughed. “My goalie gets a one-timer and some of my regular players have been trying to do that for a while.

Blue Jays notch win No. 15 on the road
Each win is a new record at this point for the JHS girls hockey team. Tuesday night, they pushed the bar to 15. The Blue Jays got two goals from sisters Steph and Torri Kamlitz had a strong night between the pipes from Carissa Finck in a 5-3 win over Mandan. It was not a masterpiece by any means, but it’s three more points in the bank for the 15-5 Blue Jays.

Busy day caps crazy week
For an avid sports fan in Jamestown, this week has been a blast. However, if you enjoy getting around to all sports the Buffalo City has to offer, you’ll find yourself at a crossroads today. In the city, you’ll find seven basketball games, two hockey games, a gymnastics meet, a swimming meet and a wrestling meet. That’s quite the lineup for one day.

Bismarck nips Jays
The Jamestown Blue Jay girls hockey team came out flat against the host Bismarck Blizzard on Friday night, and it was reflected in the final score. The Blizzards’ Lauren Bischof and Haleigh Springan each found the back of the net, and that was enough to hold off a late surge by Jamestown.

It would be hard to think of anyone that had a better New Year’s Day than Craig Bohl. The coach of the Bison got effectively a lifetime deal from NDSU on Tuesday. The man deserves every penny, though. Had someone told me five years ago that a Bison game would become a “tough ticket” I would not have believed it, but Bohl has done that.
