Letter to the editor: Local officers deserve thanks for Cops ‘n’ Kids program
I want to send a giant “thank you” to the members of the local Fraternal Order of Police and all of the officers and personnel who give of themselves each year to make Cops ‘n’ Kids possible. We have had the privilege of participating for several years and it is hard to say who has more fun — the children or the officers.

PBHS students, staff take giving on the road: Group shops here for the Angel Tree program
Students and staff at Pingree-Buchanan High School took Thursday off from classes to give back to those in the area less fortunate than themselves. With only a few weeks of notice the 84 students at the 7-12 grade high school raised $1,750 for the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. Staff chipped in an additional $385.

Rotary members learn about new law
The new smoking law went into effect on Dec. 6, according to Robin Iszler, unit administrator of Central Valley Health District, speaking at the Rotary meeting last week. Central Valley Health District is responsible for Stutsman and Logan counties. This law put North Dakota with the toughest standard in the United States, she said. North Dakotans voted for the law by a two-thirds majority in the most recent election.
