Calls for service increasing: Stutsman County has 3,000 more calls in 2012 than year before
Calls for service and 911 calls in Stutsman County increased in 2012, and there will probably be more in 2013. “We’re seeing a tremendous increase in our calls for service, and in talking with Chad (Kaiser, Stutsman County sheriff) and Scott (Edinger, Jamestown police chief), I’ll tell you we haven’t even close to plateaued with these numbers,” said Jerry Bergquist, Stutsman County emergency manager and 911 coordinator, at a Tuesday meeting of the Stutsman County Commission. “We’re on the rise.”

Roy Hoffman
Roy S. Hoffman, 83, Minot, died Sunday, February 24, 2013, in his home. Roy “Ray” Stanley Hoffman was born December 6, 1929, in Logan County, “Flat” south of Streeter, N.D., the son of John and Katherina (Ketterling) Hoffman. He attended rural school and graduated from Napoleon High School in 1947.

Edna Maier, 95, formerly of Streeter, ND died Sunday evening February 17, 2013 at the Napoleon Care Center in Napoleon, ND. Edna Schnaidt was born January 3, 1918 at Napoleon, ND, the daughter of John and Christina (Kranzler) Schnaidt. She moved to Temvik, ND when she was 2 years old. In 1925 she moved to Napoleon to live with her grandparents, Christina and Philip Werth. She received her elementary education at the local rural school.

The conference opened with a joint session on Friday night, called to order by American Legion Department Commander Dave Rice, Fargo. Dignitaries bringing greetings were Lt. Gov. The University of North Dakota has announced its fall deans’ list. The deans’ list includes students whose grade point averages are in the top 15 percent of the enrollment in each of the university’s degree granting colleges and schools. A student must have completed no fewer than 12 semester hours of academic work for the semester, of which eight or more hours must be graded work rather than “satisfactory/unsatisfactory.” Area students on the list:

Partial funding for a $14 million water system expansion for Stutsman Rural Water District took a step forward Friday. The North Dakota House of Representatives passed House Bill 1269, providing $9.97 million in grants for an expansion that brings water to about 750 residences in an area including Woodworth and Streeter. The rest of the funds would be borrowed from U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development.

Reuben passed away Jan. 14. 2013. He was born in Streeter ND, his family moved to Jamestown ND. He served in the US Army and helped build I-90 & I-94. Before moving to Round Rock TX, he lived in Covington WA. Reuben worked at Cadman Sand & Gravel in Issaquah WA. He belonged to the Automotive Machinists Local 289 for 30 years.
