Blue Jays beat GF again
Coming into the season, Jamestown had never beaten Grand Forks in girls hockey. Now, the Blue Jays have a winning streak against the Knightriders. Jamestown broke a 2-all third period tie by scoring three straight goals en route to a 5-3 win Friday at the Crookston Holiday. The Blue Jays, who improved to 8-2 with the win, beat Grand Forks for the second time in 13 days.

Five girls score as Blue Jays off to 2-0 start
Despite a slow opening period Friday night, the Blue Jay girls hockey team is off to a 2-0 start for the first time, well, probably ever. Five players scored and Jamestown’s play improved with each period in a 5-0 blanking of Mandan. In two games, the Blue Jays have outscored Fargo North and the Braves 7-0.

Without question, the Blue Jay girls hockey team was Jamestown High School’s feel-good sports story last winter. The program produced a record number of victories (13) and brought home its first trophy from the state tournament — a fifth-place, consolation championship trophy — after turning heads by winning back-to-back games on the state’s biggest stage to close out the season.
