Washburn’s Schreiner signs with Jimmies
Washburn’s Brett Schreiner has signed with the Jamestown College baseball team. Schreiner, a 5-foot-10, 155-pound infielder/pitcher for the Cardinals, hit .510 (25-for-49) during last season’s high school campaign and then posted a .425 average in Legion baseball to help Washburn to the Class B title.

A recent addition to the YMCA has proven crucial for the Jamestown College golf team. With two indoor simulators and a 300-square foot putting green, the Jimmies have been able to stay sharp inside while spring continues to stay away outside.

Tom Heck, vice president of planning and administration for Jamestown College, said the new McKenna-Thielsch Center, built on the site of the former J-House building, will be ready for faculty to move into by early May after the spring semester is done.

The Jimmie baseball team had their games Tuesday (Dakota Wesleyan) and Wednesday (Minot State) wiped out. The Jimmies, who have won 10 of their last 11 games, hope to play Mayville State (24-2-1) this weekend. Where that happens remains up in the air. It won’t be in Jamestown or Mayville. Tom Hager and Scott Berry are working to find a diamond not covered in snow.
