Drenth shows his newest works in the Daktel lobby
Jamestown’s native son, Brock Drenth, opened his one-man exhibit of new work at the Daktel office headquarters earlier this month. His paintings will be on display for the summer. Because the office is open to the public, he selected pieces that are connected to the area and include local subjects. Drenth’s grouping includes an array of various motifs and painting methods.

Jamestown man continues battle with laryngeal cancer
It’s been a difficult road these past two years for Jerome Cichos of Jamestown. In 2010, Cichos, 66, had to have his larynx (voice box) removed via laryngectomy after doctors discovered cancer in that part of his throat. Doctors indicated that the eight-hour procedure and treatment thereafter were successful, giving him a relatively clean bill of health.­

Hospital Auxiliaries of N.D. holds convention
The Hospital Auxiliaries of North Dakota convention was held in Mandan, N.D., at the Seven Seas Motor Inn on May 17. Host auxiliaries were Jamestown, Valley City and Ashley. Attending were 147 members from 18 communities across the state. The theme was “Building for the Future.”

A new, one-stop shop for home décor, antiques and furnishings has come to Jamestown in the form of Calamity Janes: Second Time Around Shoppe. The store, which is located next to the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Business Loop West in Jamestown, opened in early May to customers looking to get what shop owner Sharri Besednik called, “nice things but not at outrageous prices.”
