Standoff suspect identified
A man accused of shooting at officers during a standoff here Thursday was identified Friday as 59-year-old Ernest Schroeder. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Schroeder on suspicion of reckless endangerment, according to a news release from Williston Police Sgt. Detective David Peterson on Friday. Schroeder is being held in the Williams County Jail.

A Fargo obstetrician testifying Wednesday in the trial over a state law that critics claim would outlaw medication abortions in North Dakota said it won’t make women safer and instead would obstruct them from getting good care in emergencies arising from the procedure.
