John Gregory Wanser, 90, Bismarck, died February 20, 2013, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 pm Wednesday, February 27, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with Bishop Paul Zipfel officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck.

Jimmies ink Montana player
Aubrey Beaumont of Great Falls, Mont., has signed with the Jimmie volleyball team. Beaumont, a 5-foot-7 setter/hitter, is a two-time all-state and all-conference performer. She recorded 236 digs, 225 assists and 200 kills as a senior and was named academic all-state and was selected to the 2012 Eastern AA All-Star team.

JC to remember student at service
The unexpected death of a student has left members of the Jamestown College community shocked and saddened. Josh Berg, 24, a mass communications major at JC, died Feb. 16 of a pulmonary embolism caused by a blood clot. He would have graduated this spring.

Jimmies grind: JC guts out victory over Ashford Univ.
Late-game execution is critical come playoff time. Friday night, the Jimmies came through. Jamestown College scored on each of its final four possessions to grind out a 54-50 win over Ashford University of Iowa in quarterfinal action at the Association of Independent Institution tournament at the Civic Center. The Jimmies, now just one win from nationals, play ninth-ranked Rochester College (20-3) of Michigan with the winner earning a trip to Branson and the loser going home.

The A.I.I. tournament did not go well last season for the Jimmies. Just like this weekend, Jamestown College was the top seed, but were bounced quickly and then had to sweat out the at-large process to get to nationals.
