Last weekend was quite memorable for fans of college hockey. First, there was more uncertainty than usual regarding the makeup of the field for the NCAA tournament. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is predicting improving drought conditions for much of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa based at least partially on the amount of moisture in the current snowpack , according to Adnan Akyuz, North Dakota state climatologist.

North Dakota National Guard Sgt. Maj. Rashad Schaffner of Dawson,?N.D., is back home after nine months of very detail-oriented work in Afghanistan.
