BCTF grant funds down $37,000
The Buffalo City Tourism Foundation’s 2013 budget shows $37,000 in decreased grant funding from this year. The budget was presented by BCTF Executive Director Nina Sneider at the monthly executive board meeting Friday.

A cannon’s blast will be heard from Fort Seward tonight. Members of the 20th Infantry Reenacted will demonstrate the drills associated with firing the 12-pound mountain howitzer.

Flag retirement ceremony set
A ceremony honoring the American flag and an official flag retirement ceremony are planned for 7 p.m. Thursday at Fort Seward in Jamestown. Following a short program, the Girl Scouts of Jamestown will conduct the retirement ceremony.

Albino bison are rare sight
The World’s Largest Buffalo isn’t fat. The 60-ton concrete-and-metal bison was just sculpted that way. From his post at the end of Louis L’Amour Lane, Dakota Thunder has presided over Jamestown, N.D., since 1959, providing thousands of tourists with photo ops every year — if they’re willing to stand back far enough to fit his 26-foot-tall profile into the frame.
