Letter to the editor: Measure 5 isn’t the answer to animal cruelty issues
People have asked for my opinion as a veterinarian on Measure 5. Two groups seek your support: one, North Dakotans for Responsible Animal Care, composed of the North Dakota Veterinary Medical Association, North Dakota Stockmen’s Association, North Dakota Farm Bureau, North Dakota Farmers Union, North Dakota Board of Animal Health and the Department of Agriculture; two, North Dakotans to Stop Animal Cruelty, initially started by several North Dakota individuals who have supported previous legislation against animal cruelty.

Letter to the editor: HSUS will use Measure 5 to hurt N.D. agriculture
I am urging everyone to vote “no” on Measure 5. Measure 5 concerns extreme cruelty to dogs, cats and horses. This sounds good, but there is more to this initiated measure than just the good of dogs, cats and horses.

Letter to the editor: Measure 5 will only protect animals in North Dakota
I encourage you all to look at the real reason behind Measure 5. Ignore claims that a “no” vote will protect hunting and fishing. It is propaganda that is preventing progress.

Letter to the editor:Measure 5 would endanger North Dakota's way of life
I am a local rancher and feedlot manager and am extremely concerned with what the consequences could be if Measure 5 is passed. It is extremely important that we educate our family and friends about the measure. Measure 5 is poorly worded, could have unintended consequences, and will be nearly impossible to amend if problems arise.
